Poppy Meadow

How amazed I was when I saw this field from my car window, driving past it. I immediately turned around, went back and took my camera and tripod out of the boot. I spend the next two days filming and recording in this magnificent field covered with wild flowers and inhabited by a variety of birds happily chirping their spring songs. It was such a healing experience for me, reminding me of the days when I was a child, spending my summers together with my sister at our grandparents’ peaceful villages. Spring Forest

One day I saw an amazing picture, posted by a friend of mine, of a forest floor completely covered in blossoming wild yellow flowers. I thought to myself, that I want to make a video of this place. I immediately wrote to my friend, asking where the place was. She pointed me to a place in the North part of Bulgaria and I quickly prepared myself and left to go there, before it was too late to see this view. When I got to the place, I was very happy to discover the area exactly the way I imagined it. The flowers were still there, densely covering the ground beneath the trees. I filmed a lot of different scenes in the area and recorded the song of the birds inhabiting it, which, as it was the middle of spring, were all quite actively singing. Campfire, Crickets and Waves

On a quiet summer day, I decided to go and spend the night at place I very well know in the South of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. I wasn’t planning on any particular shoot, but I had all my equipment with me for just in case. Having chosen my camping spot and hung my hammock, I had the idea of making a campfire and filming it. It was the peak of Bulgarian summer and the grass was already quite dry, so I was very careful to make sure that the fire stays within the stone circle that I created. You can watch my campfire video here: https://youtu.be/9lh_becOt4Y

It was a very peaceful evening and the crickets were singing their slow summer song. After having successfully recorded the video and put out the fire, I rested on the nearby rock, taking some posy pictures of myself and looking at the rising of the magnificent full moon and the distant lights of the nearby town. It was quiet and peaceful where I was. I tried filming the moon and it’s reflection in the sea, but when I got back home, I realised that my camera wasn’t able to record in such low light with good quality.

Later in the night I recorded the beautiful and perfectly soothing sounds of the gently lapping waves and the constant mellow chirping of the crickets were. I made a long video for a peaceful sleep. You can play it here: https://youtu.be/Ukugbb0Y72M

Campfire by the River

For this video I traveled and hiked with a friend of mine to one of my favourite spots in Strandja Natural Park, Bulgaria. I wanted to record a video of a campfire near a river, that had both the sounds of the crackling fire and tricking water in it. I found this perfect place and started to set up the campfire. The water looks still in the video, but it is actually moving and just behind the camera there are little rocky rapids, that produce this nice bubbly sound of gently flowing water. I wanted to record the video at dusk, so we camped and spent the night there, sleeping in our hammocks. In the middle of the night I woke up with the sound of some heavy steps moving towards us. In my mind I constructed an image of an elk, crashing into the hammock of my sleeping friend and got really worried. I turned my headlight on and looked around, but couldn’t see any creature whatsoever. I could still hear the sound of something moving in the forest not far away from us, but gradually it moved away and I fall asleep again. My friend didn’t wake up at all and slept really well, unlike me that woke up a few times more during the night listening for strange noises.
