Cosy Cove

During my last summer’s holiday with two friends to the Northern part of Greece, I had a chance to film some beautiful beaches and rocky little coves along the coast. The weather was amazing and the water of the sea crystal clear. Unfortunately a lot of the footage was ruined by human made noises. Anyone that has tried recording nature sounds, knows how difficult and sometimes impossible it is to escape the noises of modern civilization.

During the trip, we stumbled across an area of the coast where the sea and the wind have shaped the rocks into some amazing forms. The forms were so incredible, that I could spend hours just exploring and photographing them. At the end I managed to make a long loop relaxing video of a cosy little cove, surrounded by those rocks. Every morning at low tide the boats are sitting onto the bottom of the sea and then gradually by the evening the water fills the bays and canals again.

In Devon you can see this quite rare in the south of England view – wild grassland.

Climbing on the top of this hill raising high above the sea near Combe Martin I felt a very special (and spacious) powerful feeling of vastness.

The controversial sculpture standing on the pier in Ilfracombe is called Verity and was created by Demian Hirst. The name of the piece refers to “truth” and Hirst describes his work as a “modern allegory of truth and justice”

Welsh fairy tale

In the summer of 2010 I visited a number of alternative building projects in Wales. Built out of simple natural materials and covered with green roofs, these houses blend into the lush landscape. The beauty and tranquility of the Welsh countryside, along with the hobbit-like buildings, created an enchanting atmosphere and made me believe that is possible to live in a fairy tale, even in our modern world.
